Finally after about 40hrs into the New Year the Company ran its first response. The box alarm consisting of the Township companies and R.I.T. 45 (Parkside Fire Co.) were dispatched to 4000 Village Way for the building fire.
Engine 1 arrived first on location with a 3-story condominium (3 from the front / 4 from the rear) with nothing showing and the building being evacuated. As the crew was exiting the apparatus, fireboard broadcasted the additional information of a possible oven fire. A slight haze was found in the public hallway of the 2nd floor, with an increased condition in the suite itself. Upper Chichester – 9 (Chief J. Smith; 61-9) was advised of no fire, with the need for ventilation. The response was scaled down to Engine 1, Tower 61, and Engine 40. After a few more minutes the area was cleared and all units want available.
